Recent leaks have revealed the specifications for the anticipated Vivo X Fold 5. Following the success of the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro in the foldable phone market, Vivo is set to release a single successor to that model, skipping the number four due to its negative connotations in Chinese culture. The new model will be known as the Vivo X Fold 5.
Collaboration between XpertPick and renowned leaker Yogesh Brar has provided insights on what to expect from this upcoming device, which is believed to be the global version. The Vivo X Fold 5 will reportedly feature a 6.53-inch LTPO cover display with a 120Hz refresh rate. Once unfolded, users can anticipate a spacious 8.03-inch AMOLED display boasting a 2K+ resolution and the same fluid 120Hz refresh rate.
While the phone will reportedly be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset—similar to its predecessor—this might raise eyebrows since many flagship devices this year are equipped with the more advanced Snapdragon 8 Elite. However, the Vivo X Fold 5 will be backed by a substantial 6,000mAh battery, positioning it as one of the devices with the largest battery capacity on the market. It will support 90W wired and 30W wireless charging, ensuring quick power replenishment.
The camera system is impressive, featuring a triple setup with a 50MP Sony IMX921 main camera, a 50MP ultra-wide lens with autofocus, and a 50MP Sony IMX882 periscope telephoto lens offering 3x optical zoom. This aims to address the shortcomings of the X Fold 3 Pro’s camera performance. In addition, the phone will include a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, a three-stage Alert Slider, and an unspecified IP rating, possibly building on the X Fold 3 Pro’s IPX4 rating.
Thickness is also a focus, with the Vivo X Fold 5 measuring 4.3mm when unfolded and 9.33mm when folded, making it competitive among sleek devices. While the release date and pricing details remain undisclosed, the previous model started around $1,500. Overall, the Vivo X Fold 5 promises to deliver substantial enhancements, though its choice of processor could influence consumer interest and pricing dynamics.
