Tim Cook announces upcoming Siri upgrade, but it’s not arriving just yet.

Posted on 2 May 2025

Tim Cook recently addressed concerns regarding the anticipated upgrade to Siri during Apple’s fiscal Q2 earnings call. The company reported an impressive revenue of $95.4 billion, marking a 5% increase compared to the same period last year.

However, the highlights of the call centered around the delay of the new, AI-powered Siri features that were expected to be part of Apple’s latest technological advancements. Cook acknowledged that the rollout of these enhanced Siri capabilities, which were initially announced as part of Apple’s push towards greater personalization, requires more development time to meet the company’s high standards.

He stated, “We need more time to complete our work on these features so they meet our high-quality bar. We are making progress, and we look forward to getting these features into customers’ hands.”

He emphasized that the upgrade is taking longer than anticipated. Currently, it seems that the significant updates to Siri may be included in the upcoming iOS 19, though it remains uncertain whether the new features will debut with the initial release or arrive in a subsequent update.

Observers speculate that the complete experience could potentially be delayed until 2026, with no concrete release date provided beyond the vague promise of “in the coming year.” Earlier this year, Apple admitted that the introduction of these new Siri features had fallen behind schedule, and hearing Cook directly address these delays adds weight to the situation.

This news could prove disappointing for many iPhone users, especially given the strong marketing push surrounding the iPhone 16 series, which highlighted Apple Intelligence and its advanced capabilities. As the anticipation grows, many will be waiting to see if the upgraded Siri will ultimately meet expectations.
