Considering a switch from your current digital assistant to Gemini or ChatGPT? There are new widgets that can make this transition smoother for you.
To utilize these features, you’ll first need to install the Gemini app. It’s available on the App Store for iOS users and on the Google Play Store for Android users.
After installation, you can easily add the widget to your home screen. For iOS, simply long press an empty space on your home screen until the apps enter “jiggle mode.”
Once that happens, click the Edit button in the top left corner. From there, tap “Add Widget,” scroll until you find the Gemini widgets, select your preferred one, and press the “Add Widget” button.
Android users can do this by long-pressing an empty area on their home screen. A menu will appear with “Widgets” as an option—select it, find Gemini, and tap the +Add button next to your desired widget.
It’s important to note that Android users need to have version 1.0.751104895 of the Gemini app to access the widgets. You can check your app version in the Settings under Apps.
Meanwhile, iPhone users should ensure they have version 1.2025.1662203 installed. If you plan to use Gemini or ChatGPT for tasks typically handled by Siri or Google Assistant, having quick access through widgets is beneficial.
On iOS devices, ChatGPT can also be accessed via the Action Button or the Visual Intelligence feature available in newer iPhone models. However, keep in mind that while these AI apps can answer many questions, they presently cannot set alarms or timers.
For those tasks, you’ll need to use the Clock app manually.
