T-Mobile Long-Term Customers Discover Loyalty Doesn’t Always Lead to Benefits

Posted on 9 May 2025

Long-time T-Mobile customers are facing disappointment as recent promotions for free lines reveal hidden complications. The latest offer targets subscribers who have been with T-Mobile for at least five years and meet specific criteria.

However, as has happened in past promotions, many users are discovering that the fine print is more complicated than anticipated. The conditions for eligibility initially seem straightforward: one must have an account for over five years, not already have multiple free lines, bring a compatible device without financing, refrain from canceling a line within the last 90 days, and avoid specific discounts.

However, further restrictions exist that exclude many loyal customers. Those on promotional, segmented, or single-line plans, as well as various discounted plans, may not qualify.

Additionally, the free line offer may not be combined with other promotions or device offers, potentially stripping away certain valued features like Go5G Plus and Experience More. A number of users have voiced frustrations on forums like Reddit, noting instances of calling customer service only to be told they weren’t eligible despite their long tenure with the company.

While T-Mobile states that it can take up to two billing cycles for any credits from these promotions to appear, customers should be prepared for upfront charges. Those who didn’t receive a direct invitation for the offer may face greater challenges if they attempt to request a free line on their own.

Reports indicate that some customers were misinformed about their eligibility, leading to unexpected charges on their bills. As customers navigate these promotions, it is crucial to verify eligibility and keep records of any confirmations to avoid surprise charges in the future.
