T-Mobile has recently removed its Go5G plans from its website, signaling a move towards gradually phasing them out. In addition to discontinuing these plans, the company is encouraging customers on even older plans to transition to newer offerings. This strategic shift follows T-Mobile’s announcement of the Experience More and Experience Beyond plans, which are designed to replace the Go5G Next and Go5G plans. Although T-Mobile initially hinted that the Go5G plans would be eventually retired, they maintained that customers currently using these plans would not be affected immediately.
However, these plans are now absent from the company’s website, although customers can still contact T-Mobile directly to sign up. Previously, archival data suggested that these plans were available until at least late April, indicating that T-Mobile is indeed moving forward with these changes. Jon Freier, T-Mobile Consumer Group President, noted that the new plans offer similar features to the Go5G Plus and Go5G Next plans, assuring customers that they would not be missing out. However, some customers have expressed concerns regarding the pricing structure, particularly since the new plans do not include taxes and fees in their pricing.
In an effort to retain older plan customers, T-Mobile is promoting benefits for those who decide to switch to the Go5G Plus plan. Customers would maintain their current monthly costs and also have the opportunity to receive significant discounts on new devices. Despite the advantages, some customers remain skeptical, fearing that this might undermine previous price lock guarantees. As of now, T-Mobile has not clarified whether existing discounts will carry over to new plans.
The company has been contacted for further comments and any updates on this matter.
