Sony Xperia 1 VII benchmark reveals no unexpected specifications or surprises in performance.

Posted on 4 May 2025

The Sony Xperia 1 VII is making headlines once again, following the release of CAD renders and live certification images in April. Recently, the device was spotted on Geekbench, providing a glimpse into the hardware specifications that Sony is incorporating into its upcoming flagship smartphone. The Xperia 1 VII is shaping up to be a conventional flagship.

It will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite processor and equipped with 12 GB of RAM, which aligns with the expectations for high-end devices launching in early 2025. This configuration is becoming increasingly standard in the premium smartphone market. Moreover, the Xperia 1 VII is set to run on Android 15, further solidifying its place as a leading-edge device.

While the benchmark scores from Geekbench might not be particularly groundbreaking, the performance of the Snapdragon 8 Elite is already well-recognized, as it is the same chipset found in Samsung’s Galaxy S25 series. Information from previous reports suggests that the Xperia 1 VII might retain the same 6.5-inch display as its predecessor, the Xperia 1 VI. The CAD renders indicate dimensions of 161.9 x 74.5 x 8.5 mm, hinting at a design similar to prior models.

Given that the Xperia 1 VI was unveiled in May and hit the market a month later, it is anticipated that Sony will announce the Xperia 1 VII soon, possibly within this month. In the coming weeks, more details are likely to emerge about this highly awaited device, particularly for enthusiasts eager to learn about any new features and enhancements.
