As Samsung prepares for the official announcement of its next foldable devices in just a few months, a major point of contention appears to be resolved, challenging previous assumptions. While nothing is definitive until the Galaxy Unpacked event in July, recent reports from Korean media suggest details about the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 7 that seem credible. According to sources from Chosun Biz, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 may make history by being the first foldable device from Samsung to feature an Exynos 2500 processor, moving away from the anticipated Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite. This shift could reduce Samsung’s dependence on Qualcomm for its popular Snapdragon chips.
Although the Exynos 2500 is expected to perform adequately, concerns arise due to its troubled development, which previously led Samsung to reconsider its use in the Galaxy S25 line. While the Z Flip 7 is projected to be faster than its predecessor, the upgrade may be modest. If it does not come at a lower price point than the Z Flip 6, it might be viewed unfavorably by consumers expecting a significant leap in performance. Conversely, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is anticipated to feature the powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite.
This would position it strongly against competitors, including the Galaxy S25 lineup. Production for both models is set to begin soon, with plans to manufacture around 200,000 units of the Z Flip 7 by June. However, it’s speculated that the more budget-friendly Z Flip FE may be launched after these models. As rumors circulate about it being powered by the Exynos 2400e, clarity on this device is still needed.
For now, the focus remains on the unfolding developments regarding Samsung’s foldable devices.
