Ericsson’s 5G Technology Receives Verizon’s Seal of Approval for Public Safety Use

Posted on 2 May 2025

Ericsson has recently achieved the prestigious status of “Verizon Frontline Verified,” affirming its commitment to public safety communication. This recognition signifies that Ericsson’s technology meets the rigorous standards set by Verizon for mission-critical operations.

As highlighted by Justin Blair, VP and Head of Carriers, Americas, ensuring secure, uninterrupted connectivity and access to vital applications is essential for modern public safety efforts. This achievement further solidifies Ericsson’s standing as a leader in mobile communication solutions.

Verizon Frontline is a specialized network tailored to the unique needs of first responders. The development of this technology has been a collaboration spanning over three decades, involving both Verizon and various public safety agencies.

This partnership has allowed both parties to effectively address the evolving requirements of emergency services. To qualify for the “Verizon Frontline Verified” status, vendors must first join the Verizon Frontline Innovation Program.

This process enables manufacturers like Ericsson to submit their products for thorough evaluation. Among the Ericsson devices that have received this verification are the Cradlepoint R980 router, which supports the newly launched Verizon Frontline Network Slice, providing essential communication capabilities.

Other verified 5G products include the E3000 enterprise router, W1855 outdoor adapter, R1900 ruggedized router, and R2105 outdoor all-in-one router. According to Calvin Jackson, Senior Manager for Crisis Response with Verizon Frontline, Ericsson has proven to be a reliable partner for many years.

Its products are designed with the dependable, secure infrastructure of Verizon in mind, making them a trusted choice for public safety agencies across the nation.
