Windows laptop users can now access a feature that Apple fans have enjoyed for years: Apple Music with Dolby Atmos. This capability is available on Galaxy Books and other Windows devices, thanks to the rollout of version 1.1284.20225 of Apple Music. To fully experience Dolby Atmos, the laptop must be equipped with speakers that support this audio technology.
Dolby Atmos creates a three-dimensional sound space, providing an immersive audio experience that adapts well to various headphones and speakers. Apple Music introduced Dolby Atmos support back in June 2021, but it was only available on Apple devices and certain platforms, including Android, iOS, iPadOS, and tvOS. With this latest update, Windows has finally joined the list of supported operating systems, expanding accessibility for music lovers.
Competing audio technologies include DTS:X and Sony 360 Reality Audio, with Sony’s version of surround sound available on Amazon Prime Music alongside Dolby Atmos. Users can download Apple Music directly from the Microsoft Store on their Windows PCs. However, it’s worth noting that Dolby Atmos remains unavailable on some other operating systems, such as Tizen OS used in Samsung TVs and smart monitors.
Interestingly, despite the significant advancement of Dolby Atmos, Apple’s primary competitor, Spotify, has not yet integrated Dolby Atmos support into its service. As Apple Music continues to establish itself as one of the leading streaming platforms with cutting-edge technology, it now offers users a richer, more engaging audio experience on Windows laptops.
