Apple is reportedly set to discontinue support for three iPhone models with the upcoming release of iOS 19, its most significant update since 2013. According to a leak from a trusted source, the iPhone XR, iPhone XS, and iPhone XS Max will not receive the latest operating system.
All three models, released in 2018, are equipped with the A12 Bionic chipset, which has now become outdated for the new software. Every other iPhone that is compatible with iOS 18 and features a more advanced processor is expected to support iOS 19.
This includes the iPhone 11 and later models. Earlier rumors had suggested that all devices capable of running iOS 18 would also be eligible for the iOS 19 update, leaving some uncertainty over which information is accurate.
However, it’s important to note that not all compatible devices will benefit from all the new features in iOS 19. Apple is likely to reserve some of the most advanced capabilities for its higher-end models.
The official unveiling of iOS 19 is scheduled for June 9 during Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC). This update is anticipated to mark a substantial shift in the iPhone software landscape since iOS 7 was launched over ten years ago.
Notable changes are expected, including a redesign of the interface aimed at creating consistency across iOS, macOS, and iPadOS. The redesign will involve new icons, system buttons, and app interface elements.
Additionally, there are rumors of a more user-friendly navigation system and the introduction of glassy effects throughout the interface, drawing inspiration from the Vision Pro software. Although artificial intelligence enhancements are expected, significant AI updates might not roll out until later versions, with the next major update planned for iOS 20 in 2027.
