T-Mobile has recently released its financial results for the first quarter of 2025, marking a significant milestone for the company as they report their best Q1 performance to date. The wireless carrier gained an impressive 1.3 million new postpaid customers during this period, surpassing its competitors in the industry.
Among these newcomers, T-Mobile welcomed 495,000 new postpaid customers and 424,000 new internet subscribers. In a noteworthy announcement, T-Mobile claims to be the only U.S. carrier that operates a satellite network compatible with most modern smartphones.
Despite this claim, Verizon and AT&T may have differing opinions. While T-Mobile has not disclosed exact figures, it mentioned that hundreds of thousands of users are utilizing its direct-to-cell satellite service, indicating a growing demand.
Currently in beta, T-Mobile’s satellite service is set to officially launch in July, and the company has reduced the monthly subscription price from the previously announced $20 to $10 for customers of its rivals. T-Mobile has also introduced the 5G Advanced network, which enhances the company’s existing 5G standalone network.
This new standard utilizes cutting-edge technologies, including carrier aggregation to increase speed and capacity, Reduced Capability (RedCap) for IoT and wearable devices, and Low Latency, Low Loss, Scalable throughput (L4S) to minimize delays. These upgrades are designed to make T-Mobile’s 5G network more efficient and reliable, ultimately enabling new applications.
Additionally, T-Mobile has celebrated its record performance, having been recognized by Opensignal as the carrier with the fastest download speeds among large countries, and being rated for the best 5G availability by RootMetrics, further solidifying its position in the competitive landscape of wireless services.
