The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra has sparked disappointment among its users, primarily due to its unchanged battery capacity of 5000mAh. Recent iterations of the Galaxy S Ultra series have consistently featured this same battery size, prompting speculation about potential changes in future models. Reports suggest that Samsung may be considering the removal of the S Pen silo in the Galaxy S26 Ultra to create additional internal space for a larger battery.
A leaker recently suggested that the Galaxy S26 Ultra could be equipped with a variable aperture for its main rear camera, which would allow the removal of the second telephoto lens. This modification could potentially free up enough space for a 5,500mAh battery. If coupled with the elimination of the S Pen silo, it raises the possibility of fitting the device with a 7000mAh battery, particularly if Samsung opts for advanced Silicon-Carbon battery technology that has been gaining traction among various manufacturers.
Should Samsung decide to eliminate the S Pen’s silo, users might wonder where to store the stylus. One proposed solution could be similar to Apple’s approach with the iPad Pro, which uses magnets to attach the Apple Pencil to the device for storage and charging. The Galaxy S26 Ultra may feature flat sides which could allow the S Pen to magnetically adhere to one side of the phone.
Additionally, the same leaker indicated that the Galaxy S26 Ultra will retain a punch-hole front camera rather than adopt an under-display camera. The upcoming model is expected to showcase thinner bezels compared to its predecessor, the Galaxy S25 Ultra. Official announcements are anticipated for January 2026, with the device powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chip, while the Exynos 2600 will be used in select markets.
