Recent rumors suggest that Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 may soon set new standards in the foldable phone market. Expected to be announced in early July, these premium flagship devices are generating significant buzz, particularly regarding their designs and specifications.
One of the most intriguing aspects is the rumored thickness of the Galaxy Z Fold 7. Early reports indicated a thickness of 4.5mm unfolded and 9.5mm folded, but new leaks suggest it could be as thin as 8.2mm when folded.
For comparison, the Z Fold 6 measures 12.2mm when folded. If this rumor is accurate, it could position Samsung ahead of competitors, as the current thinnest foldable, the Oppo Find N5, is 8.9mm folded.
However, such a dramatic reduction in thickness raises skepticism. If true, it would represent a significant achievement in foldable technology, especially considering that the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition is already 10.6mm thick.
Until more is known, it’s prudent to take these claims with caution. In addition to its sleek design, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is expected to feature a powerful camera setup, including a 200MP main camera, a 10MP telephoto lens, and a 12MP ultrawide lens.
The display is also anticipated to grow to 8 inches, up from 7.6 inches in its predecessor, while the outer display may increase from 6.3 to 6.5 inches. Both devices are likely to see a price increase, with reports suggesting an additional €100 for the Fold 7.
The Galaxy Z Flip 7 is also expected to have notable enhancements, including a larger cover display and extended battery life. Powering both devices is anticipated to be Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite.
Meanwhile, the competition remains fierce with other manufacturers, including Oppo and Motorola, releasing innovative devices. As the foldable market continues to evolve, it will be interesting to see how Samsung’s new entrants respond to the ever-changing landscape.
