Pixel Users Get Daily Notifications to Help Prepare for the Next Day’s Weather

Posted on 20 April 2025

Pixel users can look forward to receiving daily notifications designed to help them prepare for the next day’s weather. This enhancement is part of Google’s effort to keep Pixel users well-informed about current and upcoming weather conditions.

With numerous weather applications available on both iOS and Android, it’s relatively easy to find a reliable one. Many of these apps, such as The Weather Channel and AccuWeather, utilize radar technology, which allows for a more accurate prediction of thunderstorms, including their location and duration.

If you prefer a more straightforward approach and simply want to know the current temperature and upcoming forecasts, apps like Currently offer a color-coded system that indicates how to dress for the weather. Recently, for instance, users in Salem, Massachusetts, noticed a shift in the app from cool blue tones to warmer reddish hues as temperatures were expected to soar to 76 degrees.

In addition to the existing weather apps, Google Search has introduced an updated notification system that presents forecasts in a more visual and engaging manner. Instead of a generic alert, users will now receive notifications featuring thermometer images accompanied by temperature indicators.

For example, a notification could indicate higher than normal temperatures or provide daily temperature ranges with added descriptive text. These new weather notifications are gradually being rolled out to Pixel devices equipped with the latest version of the Google app.

Additionally, Google has released a standalone Google Weather app available on the Play Store, which replaces the previous weather function integrated into the main Google app. This new app does not feature the familiar weather frog, known as “Froggy,” indicating a fresh start for weather enthusiasts using Pixel devices.
