New 144Hz iPad Challenger Debuts in China Market

Posted on 24 April 2025

Tablets continue to thrive in the tech market, with the recent launch of the Honor Pad GT from China showcasing impressive features at an attractive price. Starting at just CNY 1,899 (approximately $260) for the 8/128GB version, this device serves as a budget-friendly alternative to the GT Pro slate released last year.

The Honor Pad GT boasts an 11.5-inch IPS LCD display that offers a resolution of 2800 x 1840 pixels and a remarkable 144 Hz refresh rate. It also supports a brightness of 500 nits and comes with IMAX Enhanced certification, enhancing the viewing experience for multimedia.

To further enrich this multimedia journey, the Pad GT includes a total of eight speakers. In contrast, the latest 11-inch iPad lags behind with a 60 Hz refresh rate and lower resolution.

Equipped with the MediaTek Dimensity 8350 chipset, the Honor Pad GT offers configurations with either 8 or 12GB of RAM and storage options of 128, 256, or 512GB. Although the camera specifications are modest—a 13MP main camera and an 8MP front camera—the device is more suited for casual use such as video calls or document scanning.

An exciting addition is keyboard and mouse mapping support for 18 gaming titles, enabling a more PC-like gaming experience. Running on MagicOS 9.0 based on Android 15, the Pad GT incorporates various AI features from the Honor Magic smartphone line.

It is powered by a robust 10,100 mAh battery with support for 66W wired fast charging. Available in Blue, Gray, and White, the 8/128GB model starts at CNY 1,899, although global availability remains uncertain.

In addition to the tablet, Honor unveiled the Honor Band 10, a stylish smart band with a 1.57-inch AMOLED display and impressive fitness tracking capabilities. Priced at CNY 229 ($31), it offers Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity, call support, and water resistance.

The band can monitor heart rate, blood oxygen levels, and various sports activities, boasting up to two weeks of battery life on a single charge. The Band 10 is currently available in several attractive colors, with a potential global rollout expected based on past product launches.
