Huawei is set to return to its routine of launching two flagship lineups each year, transitioning from the traditional “P-series” to the newly branded Pura line focused on photography. The Pura 80 models, which were typically expected in the first quarter of the year, have faced delays and are now anticipated to debut around June or July 2025. There is speculation that Huawei may even skip the Pura line this year, but reports suggest that the Pura 80 series will feature an optimized Kirin chipset designed for improved power efficiency. These new models are set to maintain the high-performance camera system that the brand is known for.
Specifically, the 2025 Pura 80 is expected to excel in low-light photography, thanks to a large 1-inch camera sensor. Additionally, the series will introduce a second lens with a variable aperture feature, allowing users to customize the lens opening size for both the main and ultra-wide cameras. In addition to the Pura line, Huawei will also launch its innovative Mate lineup each year, typically in the fourth quarter. According to rumors, the Mate 80 series will introduce two smaller-screen options, with one model possibly featuring a 6.3-inch display and another offering a 6.5-inch screen.
The standard Mate 80 is expected to have a 6.7-inch OLED panel. This strategy will provide consumers with Pro-grade flagship phones at more accessible price points. Unlike the previous year when the Mate 70 series showcased different screen styles, all Mate 80 versions will reportedly feature flat panels. The upcoming models may include enhancements such as a high adaptive refresh rate, maximum brightness, and drop-resistant glass, contributing to a robust device lineup for Huawei enthusiasts.
