Google’s latest software update for the Pixel Watch, released in April 2025, aims to resolve several pressing issues that have been affecting users. This new update, which is now rolling out to Pixel Watch, Pixel Watch 2, and Pixel Watch 3 devices, addresses bugs brought on by previous releases, particularly those relating to notifications and battery performance.
The March update, which introduced Wear OS 5.1, provided some improvements but unfortunately also came with its own set of problems. Users reported issues such as lagging or missed notifications and concerning levels of battery drain.
After acknowledging these shortcomings, Google indicated that a fix was on the way, and it appears that the April update delivers on that promise. One significant change in this update is the unification of all supported Pixel Watch models under the same firmware version.
Unlike the March release, which featured individual builds for different models, the April update streamlines this process. Although it does not introduce new security patches, it maintains the security level from March while focusing on enhancing overall stability and performance.
Among the key improvements, the persistent problem of delayed notifications seems to have been successfully addressed. This is particularly beneficial for users who rely on timely alerts from their smartwatches.
Initial feedback from users also indicates noticeable enhancements in battery life, alleviating one of the main concerns from the previous update. To install the new update, users can navigate to Settings, then System, and select System Updates on their watch.
If they do not see the update immediately, tapping on the “Your watch is up to date” message several times or connecting to Wi-Fi may aid the download process. While not a flashy feature update, this patch is essential for providing the consistency and reliability that users expect from their Pixel Watch.
