This summer, Samsung is set to release the Galaxy Z Fold 7, an exciting addition to the foldable smartphone market. Despite foldable phones still being a novelty, interest is expected to surge with Apple’s rumored entry into the sector, possibly launching a foldable iPhone in 2027. This has the potential to enhance the visibility of foldable devices significantly.
With only about three months remaining before the launch, anticipation is building. Recent benchmarks from Geekbench have revealed details about the U.S. version of the Galaxy Z Fold 7, which carries the model number SM-F966U. This device is equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite application processor, noted for its high performance.
More specifically, it uses the “for Galaxy” variant of this chip, designed for top-tier devices and capable of delivering increased clock speeds compared to standard models. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 is set to feature 12GB of RAM, aligning with its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Fold 6. Although some enthusiasts hoped for an upgrade to 16GB, the specifications remain impressive.
The device runs on Android 16 with One UI 8, providing an updated software experience. Display specifications include a 7.6-inch internal Dynamic AMOLED screen with a resolution of 2160 x 1856 and a 120Hz refresh rate, complemented by a 6.3-inch outer display with a similar refresh rate. The rear camera setup is noteworthy, consisting of a 50MP main camera, a 10MP periscope camera for optical zoom, and a 12MP ultra-wide camera.
The device is anticipated to sport a 4400mAh battery with moderate charging capabilities. As for pricing, the complications of potential upcoming tariffs could push the cost of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 above $2,000 in the U.S., making it an even steeper investment for consumers.
