Don’t be alarmed by the recent renders of the iPhone 17 Pro showcasing a two-tone rear camera bar. Many fans have expressed their discomfort over these images, but according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the final product will likely differ significantly from what has been shown. Gurman, in his weekly Power On newsletter, argues against the legitimacy of these renders, indicating that while the overall look of the camera array may change, it will retain its familiar arrangement.
Specifically, Gurman mentions that the iPhone 17 Pro will feature a horizontal camera bar positioned at the top of the rear panel. However, the camera layout will remain consistent with the triangular design established since the iPhone 11 Pro was launched in 2019. The renders depicted with a contrasting black camera bar against a silver back are misleading.
Gurman asserts that the camera bar will actually match the color of the phone itself. The design of the iPhone 17 Pro is not expected to be drastically different from current models. Gurman points out that it will maintain a similar appearance when viewed from the front, closely resembling the iPhone 16 Pro.
While he did not explicitly mention it in his discussion, it is assumed that the same design principles apply to the iPhone 17 Pro Max. Looking ahead, Apple is rumored to be preparing a more significant redesign for the iPhone 20, which may introduce a bold new look featuring additional glass elements. This redesign could mark a shift towards a portless iPhone, a change that was allegedly considered for the iPhone 17 Air.
Ultimately, any substantial changes to the iPhone’s design are likely being saved for a momentous anniversary celebration, given the iPhone’s influential debut in 2007.
