AT&T recently announced a partnership with Helium Network, significantly enhancing connectivity options for its subscribers. While AT&T operates over 20,000 hotspots across all 50 states, Helium boasts a vast network of over 62,000 hotspots throughout the United States and Mexico. This collaboration enables AT&T customers to tap into Helium’s expansive network, which is developed by individuals and businesses deploying mini cell towers, or hotspots.
These contributors earn rewards for their role in expanding the network, which promotes a decentralized model viewed as both efficient and community-focused. Helium’s co-founder and CEO, Amir Haleem, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, highlighting its potential to provide affordable connectivity on a larger scale. By teaming up with AT&T, Helium aims to accelerate the integration of its services, enhancing value for subscribers.
The partnership marks a pivotal moment in Helium’s journey toward reshaping the future of connectivity. Prior to this collaboration, Helium Network had nearly half a million daily users, but the partnership with AT&T is expected to significantly increase this number. It’s important to note that AT&T is not the first carrier to leverage Helium’s network; several other mobile network operators, including Telefonica Movistar, have already formed partnerships with Helium, benefiting their customers accordingly.
In addition to the partnership, Helium Mobile has introduced the Zero Plan, the first free phone plan in the United States, which includes 3 GB of data, 100 minutes of voice, and 300 texts. Users are required to bring their own device and number to take advantage of this offering, along with two other paid plans called Air and Infinity. The expansion of Helium’s network and its innovative plans signal exciting developments in the telecommunications sector.
