Apple Lowers Streaming Service Prices Temporarily, Underbidding Competitors for a Limited Time

Posted on 9 April 2025

Apple is simplifying access to its streaming service this month. From now until April 24, 2025, new and eligible returning subscribers can sign up for Apple TV+ at a promotional rate of just $2.99 per month for three months.

This is a significant reduction from the standard monthly fee of $9.99 and grants users access to all of Apple’s original programming, along with select live sports content. This limited-time offer is exclusively available through Apple’s website.

To qualify, users must be either new subscribers or returning subscribers who meet specific conditions. Additionally, the subscription must be billed directly through Apple; anyone already eligible for a different three-month free trial, like those offered with new Apple devices, cannot take advantage of this promotion.

After the three-month period, the subscription will automatically renew at the regular price unless canceled. What sets Apple TV+ apart is its commitment to original content, avoiding filler from back catalogs.

Everything streamed on the platform is either commissioned or produced by Apple, ensuring an entirely ad-free experience on all compatible devices. In comparison to other streaming services as of 2025, Netflix remains the leader with a vast catalog, Disney+ appeals to franchise fans with its Marvel and Star Wars offerings, and Amazon Prime Video provides unique exclusives like “Thursday Night Football.”

Meanwhile, Max focuses on premium programming from Warner Bros., while Peacock and Paramount+ are gaining traction with sports coverage and classic content. This promotional offer excludes users whose subscriptions are managed by mobile carriers or third parties, but it presents a rare opportunity for eligible individuals to experience Apple TV+ without paying full price.

With the MLB season underway and new shows anticipated, this discount may help attract more viewers to the platform. It’s an excellent chance for anyone hesitant about the service, especially those who enjoyed beloved series like “Ted Lasso.”
