On March 31, Apple launched iOS 18.4, but the update brought a host of bugs and issues for many iPhone users. In response, the company is reportedly working on iOS 18.4.1, a point update intended to fix these problems. Users are eager for this update to resolve various issues that have cropped up following the introduction of new features such as changes to CarPlay, additional emojis, and the Priority Notifications feature.
Many complaints focus on excessive battery drain, with reports indicating that iOS 18.4 depletes battery life faster than its predecessor, iOS 18.3.2. Users have noted that the battery life indicator incorrectly drops to 1%, only to later show the accurate remaining percentage. Other prevalent issues include lagging performance, background apps shutting down intermittently, and apps launching without user input.
Ironically, the new updates to CarPlay have led some users to report that they can no longer use the feature after installing iOS 18.4. Additional complaints highlight that devices are overheating significantly since the update. This assortment of issues has led to discussions about potential bugs on social media.
The list of grievances from users has become a kind of “iOS 18.4 Bug Bingo,” with problems such as rapidly draining batteries, unresponsive photo deletions, unexpected app closures, and streaming disruptions—particularly with the Spotify app—among the reported concerns. As iPhone users anticipate the release of iOS 18.4.1 to correct these nuisances, the company is also preparing to roll out iOS 18.5, which has already been made available in beta form. Early indications suggest that changes in this upcoming update will be relatively minor.
