Analyst Reveals Apple’s Ambitious Vision for Foldable iPhones and iPads Exceeds Expectations

Posted on 10 April 2025

Analyst Jeff Pu recently released a research note suggesting that Apple’s ambitions in the foldable device market may be larger than previously anticipated. For some time, there have been rumors about Apple’s plans to enter the foldable market, with increasing speculation surrounding the launch timelines of its anticipated devices. Pu’s analysis indicates that Apple is on track to introduce two foldable devices next year: a foldable iPhone and an 18.8-inch foldable iPad. This marks a deviation from previous predictions by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, who had suggested that the foldable iPad might not be announced until 2028.

Pu, however, believes that the foldable iPad could be launched earlier than that, potentially in 2026. The foundation for Pu’s claims is a combination of various sources, including reports from Gurman and supply chain insights. His assertion aligns with his earlier views about the foldable iPad’s timeline, which makes the situation all the more interesting. If Apple moves forward with both a book-style foldable iPhone and a large foldable iPad, it could significantly shake up a currently struggling foldable market.

At present, competitors like Samsung and Huawei are already experimenting with foldable technology, yet mainstream adoption remains elusive. With devices such as Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 anticipated for a summer release, and various other brands pushing their innovations, all eyes will be on Apple to see how its entry into the foldable market will influence the landscape. It remains to be seen whether Apple’s strategy will redefine consumer expectations for foldable devices.
