Samsung Set to Release New Rugged Android Tablet in the US Market Soon

Posted on 18 March 2025

Samsung offers a diverse range of tablets that cater to different price segments, although not all models will be available in the US. Among these, the mid-tier rugged tablets include the forthcoming Galaxy Tab Active5 Pro, which differs from its predecessor, the Galaxy Tab Active5, that launched about a year ago. The Galaxy Tab Active5 Pro is expected to feature a more robust hardware configuration, driven by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chipset. In contrast, the standard Galaxy Tab Active5 utilizes an Exynos 1380 processor.

Although both models are anticipated to have 6 GB of RAM, there is speculation that Samsung will also introduce an 8 GB option alongside storage variants of 128 or 256 GB. The unveiling of the Galaxy Tab Active5 Pro seems imminent, as it has been recently featured on the GSMA website. As a successor to the older Galaxy Tab Active4 Pro—which debuted in August 2022—the tablet is likely to follow a similar launch timeline, potentially arriving in summer. Currently, the details on the Galaxy Tab Active5 Pro are limited, but given its role as a relatively minor upgrade to the Active5, there are no major surprises expected.

For context, the Galaxy Tab Active5 offers an 8-inch display with a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The device is powered by the Exynos 1380 and comes with options for 6/128 GB or 8/256 GB RAM configurations. Additionally, it houses a modest 5,050 mAh battery, a 13-megapixel main camera, and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. Overall, Samsung is set to enhance its rugged tablet line with the upcoming release, promising improvements while retaining the essentials that users have come to expect.
