Qualcomm Unveils High-Performance Chipsets Exclusively for a Select Group of Android Enthusiasts

Posted on 17 March 2025

Qualcomm is making waves with the introduction of its latest product line, the Snapdragon G Series, even though it’s not quite ready to unveil its next flagship smartphone chipset. This new lineup includes three distinct chipsets: Snapdragon G3 Gen 3, Snapdragon G2 Gen 2, and Snapdragon G1 Gen 2, each engineered to deliver exceptional performance for handheld gaming. These Snapdragon G Series Gaming Platforms are set to revolutionize on-the-go gaming with advanced capabilities, offering immersive experiences.

According to Micah Knapp, Senior Director of Product Management at Qualcomm Technologies, this new series of processors will drive the future of handheld gaming, providing diverse options for manufacturers and developers. Among the trio, the Snapdragon G3 Gen 3 stands out as the most powerful, boasting support for cutting-edge technologies like Lumen and Unreal Engine 5. It offers a 30 percent increase in CPU performance and a 28 percent enhancement in graphics capabilities, along with significant improvements in power efficiency.

In contrast, the Snapdragon G2 Gen 2 targets both gaming enthusiasts and cloud gaming experiences, achieving 144 frames per second on dedicated devices. It delivers over twice the CPU performance and nearly four times the GPU speed compared to its predecessor, while also supporting Wi-Fi 7 for rapid wireless connectivity. The Snapdragon G1 Gen 2, aimed primarily at cloud gaming on handheld Android devices, offers up to 1080p resolution at 120 FPS.

It promises an 80 percent boost in CPU performance alongside a 25 percent increase in GPU capabilities. Qualcomm anticipates that the first devices featuring the Snapdragon G Series chipsets will be released this quarter, focusing exclusively on Android handheld devices.
