Leaked Performance Scores and GPU Specifications for Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 Unveiled

Posted on 29 March 2025

Recent leaks have revealed promising specifications for the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2, suggesting that this new chipset will provide a significant upgrade over its predecessor. Notably, the Adreno 840 GPU will debut with a higher clock speed, enhancing overall performance.

The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 is expected to deliver a power increase of approximately 25% in single-core performance and 20% in multi-core performance compared to the previous model. Current reports indicate that Qualcomm will manufacture this chipset using a 3 nm process, despite TSMC’s 2 nm process being available.

The decision to stick with 3 nm may be a strategic move to keep costs in check. While the performance gains are exciting, uncertainty remains regarding the potential price hike for the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2.

If early reports hold true, coupled with existing tariffs, consumers in the U.S. may face higher costs. Although the 3 nm process could mitigate some of this, it’s still a concern for manufacturers and consumers alike.

Samsung may feel the impact of any price increases, particularly if its foundry cannot roll out the Exynos 2600 in time for the Galaxy S26 series. This could lead to reliance on the Snapdragon 8 Elite across the Galaxy S25 lineup due to production issues with Exynos chipsets.

Overall, the reported performance scores support the notion that the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 will be a competitive and exciting chipset, attracting various smartphone manufacturers eager to showcase devices powered by this advanced technology. With upgrades in both single-core and multi-core performance, the upcoming chipset appears well-positioned to meet the demands of modern mobile applications.
