iPhone 17 Air Could Outshine Pro Models with Sleeker Design and Lighter Weight

Posted on 26 March 2025

A newly leaked image comparing the thickness of the iPhone 17 Pro and the rumored iPhone 17 Air offers a glimpse into the potential design of this upcoming device. Speculation suggests that the iPhone 17 Air, expected to replace the Plus variant in the iPhone 17 lineup, could be the thinnest iPhone ever at around 5.5mm. The image, shared by tipster Majin Bu, indicates that the iPhone 17 Air may be nearly half as thick as the iPhone 17 Pro.

While Majin Bu’s credibility in leaking information is somewhat mixed, they have occasionally proven accurate. The newly revealed image appears to feature 3D-printed models based on Computer-Aided Design (CAD) images that have recently surfaced, showcasing both the thinness of the iPhone 17 Air and its slightly wider frame compared to the Pro version. This width may accommodate a larger display, as suggested by various rumors.

Despite numerous leaks, the iPhone 17 Air’s features are not yet confirmed. It is anticipated to be unveiled in September, and current knowledge is largely speculative. The device is expected to feature a design reminiscent of Google’s Pixel phones with a ‘camera bar’ at the top, potentially adding an extra 4mm to its otherwise slender profile.

Additionally, it may incorporate new battery technology utilizing high-density energy cells, alleviating concerns about battery life. Rumors also point to a display size of approximately 6.6 to 6.7 inches, suggesting that while it may be sleek, it won’t fall into the ‘compact’ category.
