Introducing the Perfect Flip Phone: Smart Design that Outshines the Galaxy Z Flip 7!

Posted on 22 March 2025

Finally, a flip phone that makes sense, and it’s not the Galaxy Z Flip 7. Foldable phones have struggled to achieve the success their makers envisioned, but there is hope on the horizon. Surprisingly, this hope comes from Huawei, a company many assumed would fade away after facing numerous sanctions.

The latest offering from Huawei, the Pura X, may have an unremarkable name, but it introduces a compelling design. Unlike other foldables that unfold into an unusual 22:9 aspect ratio, the Pura X opens to a much more user-friendly 16:10 size. This ratio enhances video viewing experiences, allowing for a larger display with minimal black bars.

Given how much of our online activity revolves around watching videos, this practical aspect makes the Pura X stand out. In addition to its sensible design, the Pura X boasts a significant battery advantage. Featuring a 4,700 mAh battery, it surpasses the 4,000 mAh capacity of the Galaxy Z Flip 6.

This improvement means users can enjoy longer usage times without constantly worrying about charging. Moreover, the Pura X sets itself apart by including a telephoto camera, a feature absent from Samsung’s Flip lineup despite seven generations of devices. The Pura X houses a triple-camera system, complete with a 3.5X telephoto lens, enhancing its photographic capabilities.

However, there are significant drawbacks. The Pura X is currently only available in China, lacks compatibility with Android apps, is priced over $1,000, and relies on a Kirin processor, which trails behind more modern options. For those outside China, acquiring this phone could be a hassle, as purchasing from resellers often presents challenges.

In a landscape where major players like Samsung, Google, and Apple seem stagnant, the innovative spirit embodied by the Pura X is a refreshing reminder of the excitement that new form factors can bring. We hope that established companies take note of this design and shake things up in the smartphone market.
